Relaxation Massage

Relaxation Massage is the most common and best-known type of massage performed today. The goal of Relaxation Massage is to relax the entire body. This is accomplished by using long gliding strokes that sooth and relax the body. Relaxation massage is exceptional for increasing the level of oxygen in the blood, decreasing muscle toxins, improving circulation and easing tension.

Therapeutic Massage

Therapeutic massage is similar to Relaxation massage, but additional techniques are used to target muscle trigger points and release chronic muscle tension. Other benefits include reducing inflammation and helping to eliminate scar tissue. The focus is on the deepest layers of muscle tissue, tendons, and fascia (the protective layer surrounding muscles, bones and joints). A trigger point is a tight area within muscle tissue that refers pain into other parts of the body. Trigger points are more often caused by muscle overuse or injury. Trigger points are very common due to today’s repetitive stress work environment types. Trigger point work is specifically designed to decrease and alleviate the source of the pain through cycles of isolated pressure, cross fiber friction and myofascial release.
